New Storage Container for Lions Youth Brass!

We are so excited to finally have our own storage container! A huge thank you to Tony at Cooke Containers Ltd and caretaker Gary for having the patience of a Saint! A massive thank you to Ewan at Acceler8 Clinical Research for helping us fund a brand new storage container for the band, without you this wouldn’t have been possible. What a weekend…! Lions Academy Band First to play was our Academy Band in the Elementary section on Saturday morning.Programme:1. The Muppet Show 2. Londonderry Air – Soloist, Charlie Kearon 3. The Saddleworth Suite – Pots ‘n’ Pans, Grasscroft Ghoul & Friezland Fiesta 4. Abide With Me 4 Bars Rest said “Lions certainly had a gold hallmark about their set under conductor Tom Hancock, as they opened in a long line with the ‘Muppets Theme’ (with brilliant car horn soloist), before segueing skilfully into the euphonium solo ‘Londonderry Air’ played wonderful by ‘Best Soloist’ winner Charlie Kearon. Christmas 2021

5th December – Holmes Chapel Christmas Market We were delighted to be invited along to play Christmas Carols at Holmes Chapel Christmas Market this year, such a lovely event and very well attended by members of the public as well. Organisers of the event wrote to us and said they said they were very impressed by the bands standard of performance and professionalism and they would like us to return again next year! 1st December – Middlewich Light Switch On Our Christmas festivities started on Friday 1st December as we performed Christmas carols for the Middlewich Light Switch on! Beginners and Juniors Join Forces

Our Beginner and Junior band joined together on Tuesday night and enjoyed a fantastic hour of music making! The evening started with some singing and rhythm games led by Beginner band Musical Director, Jamie Sharp and then moved to the rehearsal of several pieces from a booklet called ‘Playing in the Band’. Junior band Musical Director, Tom Hancock, gave some brilliant tips to our young musicians including how to stop and start together and how to stagger breathing between you and the players sat around you. We are very excited to announce that our new CD, Reflection, is available for purchase or digital download! If you would like to purchase one of our new CDs in person, we have arranged a collection point in the car park of Sandbach School on Saturday 15th August at 9:30am to 12:30am. Please put cash, or a cheque payable to Lions Youth Brass, in an envelope for your allocated disc and any others you may wish to purchase, with your name on. Remembering Nell

Today marks the 3rd Anniversary of the Manchester Bombing.A number of our players attended the concert and some lost a close friend, Nell Jones. From there The Remembering Nell Foundation, was launched and it is now a charity Lions Youth Brass are very proud to support. On 30th June Lions will host our awards evening which will include music, raffles and other activities, all funds will go to the foundation.
