Tour 2018: Day 2

Day 2 started with another early start at 9:30am we headed off to Bridlington Life Boat Station, ready to perform three, hour long sets for a passing audience along the beach. The sun was shining down and we played in what felt like a heatwave. During our performance, we were also accompanied by tuneful sea shanties performed by pirates (Who also supported the RNLI. We finished our set with a tour of the newly built Bridlington Life Boat Station and their two brand new boats. We also got to see various operation rooms  where Daisy and Ollie were quick to dress up in a life jackets. When we returned… Read More

Tour 2018: Day 1

After at 5:30 start this morning, it’s fair to say, we were all extremely tired. Three hours later, we arrived at our accommodation, some with more energy than others. We made our way to Hull Pride, where we were greeted by a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. We played for several hours, which was well appreciated by the audience. This included some Tour classics, solos ad the world premier of the piece by Iain McKnight – Which still has no name! We then watched the parade and waved our Pride flags high! A surprise was in store for Emily, one of the band’s flugel players as it was her 17th birthday –… Read More

Tour 2017: Day Seven

We were up early for breakfast this morning as we had to pack up all our stuff and clean the accomodation. With the help of everyone in the band, Ty Clwyd was looking spotless in no time! We set off for our perfromance in Oswestry at around 10am. Following a lovely buffet lunch, the band performed to a small audience, lets be honest, it’s all about the quality and not the quantity. At the end of a tiring week, the band did well to maintain their focus and produced yet another solid perfromance. Their were a number of excellent solo contributions by Isabel, Rhys, Suzanna and Callum. After the concert,… Read More

Tour 2017: Day Five

This morning, the band was rudely awakened by the morning chorus – no, it’s not the sound of the birds; more the din of the pan lids Brian hit to great effect. The bands destination today, was the picturesque setting of Llandudno, and the band was treated to the luxury of two hours free time! The band split into groups and enjoyed this time in many ways including hillside tobogganing, retail therapy and skimming stones on the beach. The band performed on the bandstand on the promenade, to a very supportive and enthusiastic crowd including, ex-band members, friends and even their music teacher! The band was treated to a BBQ extravaganza… Read More

Tour 2017: Day Four

Today, we all enjoyed our much deserved lie in, without being woken! We stumbled upon a shed full of surprises including Connect Four, hoola hoops and multiple balls and Frisbees for us to play with. Everyone got stuck in with games in the sun! More memes were blasted on the way to Caernarfon Castle (which was abs stunning). During our break of half an hour we explored the castle, walked into secret glass doors and found dead ends – of which there were many. After our concert in the sunshine, we had the choice of many different flavours of fabulous ice-cream! The fave being New York Cheesecake flavour! We arrived home for our tasty gammon… Read More

Tour 2017: Day Three

After a late night, it was an early start at precisely 6am. Most of us had a quick shower and were treated to a cooked breakfast! We then got changed and loaded the bus with enough food to last us the whole day, and made our way to Bangor Cathedral. After playing the hymns, the church kindly provided us with drinks and cake. We then hopped back on the bus and set off for Rhyl and some free time. Some took a walk along the beach (it’s okay Jane, we weren’t on the sand) whilst others decided McDonalds was a better idea. We were then treated to ice-cream (whilst trying not… Read More

Tour 2017: Day Two

After a very early start, we killed some time with a wander into the village for some much needed ice-cream. Before we set off for the garden centre we had a quick break to finish off Emily’s birthday cake. Upon our arrival at Fron Goch we quickly unloaded the van and got everything set up and in place for the concert. Not letting the temperamental Welsh weather get in our way, we entertained the customers who thoroughly enjoyed our performance. Thankfully, the weather picked up in time for us to pack away and get back on the coach to head back to base for our spaghetti Bolognese. With around one hour… Read More

Tour 2017: Day One

On Friday, we set off at 8am from Sandbach Common. This was the start of tour 2017! The coach was filled with excitement as we started our trip to North Wales. When we arrived, some of the boys decided to play football. However, this didn’t turn out to be the best idea ever! Yes, just an hour after we arrived Jakob fell over and broke his wrist. Despite this the boys decided to carry on playing anyway. After the eventful game of football, Nigel called us through for a rehearsal in the main room. At the end of the rehearsal Emily, our Flugel Horn player, was surprised with not one,… Read More
